We all start from somewhere simple, whether it's a humble upbringing, the bottom of the career ladder, or just Chapter One of your life. Experts used to be beginners, and Pros used to be amateurs. It can be hard to take that first step towards greatness, and it can be a challenge to even know where to begin.
I was once told, "You don't have to start at the right place, but just start somewhere." I've always over-complicated things, and don't know where to begin, and then don't take the jump. Being an over-analyzer and a pessimist, I constantly & creatively imagine the worst scenario, even though it may be literally impossible. (I know it's impossible for that train to derail two miles over, and drive into the living room, but I've definitely planned an exit route.)
I have to remind myself to start somewhere simple. Things take time to grow and nurture. I've taken that "first step" over and over again, and that's okay. I know where I came from, even though I don't always know where I'm going. Is that a country song?
But, they do have eyes.
Sausage cream gravy, full of fresh ground peppercorns.
That little East Austin grown potato, hand cut & twice-fried, you know how we do.
Squeaky cheese curds.
I've learned to stop & take a look around. Take a deep breath, and try a bit of positivity. I might not always know where to start, but I've learned to just start somewhere.
